ONE Nuclear Plans 2.88-Gigawatt Plant in Ascension Parish

ONE Nuclear Energy LLC has signed a binding letter of intent to secure site control for a new energy and data center project near the RiverPlex MegaPark in Ascension Parish, according to 10/12 Industry Report.

The project, called Project Cayman, calls for a 2.88-gigawatt natural gas plant paired with a 700-megawatt, 2.88-gigawatt-hour battery storage system, the outlet reported. A data center campus would go up alongside the power infrastructure.

ONE Nuclear Energy describes itself as a developer of large-scale energy projects using natural gas and advanced nuclear technology, per 10/12 Industry Report. The company said it picked the Ascension Parish site to align with Entergy's ongoing buildout of new regional transmission lines.

ONE Nuclear said the project would add dispatchable power generation, storage capacity and technology infrastructure near new industrial loads and transmission investment in the region, according to 10/12 Industry Report. The addition would support regional grid reliability, the company said.

The company called the letter of intent an important step toward building reliable, scalable, technology-ready energy infrastructure for industrial and data-driven economies in Louisiana and at other U.S. locations, per the announcement covered by 10/12 Industry Report.

The Donaldsonville Chief also reported on the Ascension Parish project. Neither outlet's coverage included a construction timeline, cost estimate, jobs figure or exact site location within the parish.
