Air Force Band Plays Three Louisiana Shows in September
Sixty-one Airmen musicians are packing their instruments for a September tour through Louisiana and Texas, according to the Bossier Press-Tribune.
The U.S. Air Force Band of the West, based in San Antonio, will play free shows in five cities. Three stops are in Louisiana.
The tour opens September 7 at Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. It moves to Texas for shows in Longview on September 8 and Tyler on September 9, the Bossier Press-Tribune reported. The band returns to Louisiana on September 10 at Magale Hall on the Northwestern State University campus in Natchitoches. It closes September 11 at Brown Auditorium at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
The Band of the West logs more than 125,000 miles a year, according to the Bossier Press-Tribune, and gives hundreds of free performances annually for military and civilian audiences across Texas and neighboring states. Musicians can split into smaller ensembles or play as a full band, the outlet reported, letting the group fit different venues and events.
The band describes its mission as strengthening community relations and connecting with audiences as musical ambassadors of the U.S. Air Force, according to the Bossier Press-Tribune.
